Abolish 153 is pleased to present the 3rd edition of its annual fundraising exhibition on May 16th, which marks twelve years since women obtained their political rights in Kuwait. This exhibition at the Hub Gallery has broadened its scope to include jewelry and sculpture, along with artworks in various media by local and regional artists. Moreover, the exhibition features artworks by Graphic Design Students from The American University of Kuwait who were asked to create posters speci cally for our cause. Works featured are photographs by Kuwaiti artists Farah Salem and Mohammed Alkouh as well as award-winning Bahraini photographer Ghada Khunji; Jewelry by Kuwaiti artist Abdulla Al Awadhi and Lebanese artist Sara AbuMrad; works on paper by Saudi artist Tagreed Albagshi, Iranian artist Afsoon, Lebanese artist Jad Khoury and Kuwaiti artist Amira Behbehani, among many others. Part of the proceeds from the exhibition will bene t our campaign - to abolish a law that sancti es the murder of female kin and treats it as a misdemeanor punishable by a maximum sentence of 3 years or 14 KD, which violates both the constitution and Islamic Sharia, and Eithar, an offshoot of the campaign that focuses on the building of shelters, the training of rst responders of domestic abuse and programs to empower the public and raise awareness about the legislations that violate women’s rights as human beings.
